Breaking Down The New FASTPass+ Changes For My Disney Experience

Last night, right before midnight ET, some changes took place within My Disney Experience. Those changes have to do with the FASTPass+ reservation system, and today, I decided to test everything out and see how it worked.

It’s time to break things down as there are a lot of questions swirling so here is not only what I experienced, but also what Cast Members and supervisors advised me today. This information is good on the My Disney Experience website and app

Additional FASTPass+ selections can now be made on the MDE app

No longer do you need to go to a kiosk to make a fourth or fifth or sixth FASTPass+ selection. That can now be done via the MDE app.

Today (Sunday, Apr. 10, 2016), there was only one FP kiosk open when we went past all of them and it was in Tomorrowland. Cast Members are still around to help and advise and for those without smart phones.

You can now make just one or two FASTPass+ selections

Some people were not happy with always being forced to make three selections to start. Now, you can make just one or two if you so choose. That way, a FASTPass or two that you know you won’t use…it won’t be wasted and another Guest can get it.

You still cannot park hop if making three original FASTPass+ selections

If you make THREE selections to start on My Disney Experience. They must all be within the same park. This is still the same and you cannot pick three initial selections at different parks.

**You can park hop…but there’s a catch – READ CAREFULLY**

If you make less than three initial selections, then your remaining can be made at additional parks. Let me give you the example I did this morning so it’s easier to understand.

This morning, we had a FP+ selection fro Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom for 11:10 a.m. – 12:10 a.m. As of 11:10 a.m., we tapped our MagicBands and went into the line at Pirates.

At that time, I got on MDE and the Pirates FP had already dropped off. I attempted to make another FP+ selection and was able to make a second one at Epcot for Living with the Land. After making that one (not using, just making), I was able to instantly make my third FP+ selection for Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Upon USING my initial one FP+ selection at Magic Kingdom, I was able to make two more at one other park or two other parks. After using those two (three total), I’d be able to make a fourth wherever I wished as well.

FASTPass+ selections don’t drop off after time expiration

In the past, if you missed a FASTPass+ selection, it would expire or drop off. Now, they no longer drop off but simply can be replaced with other selections.

REMEMBER: You must use at least ONE FP+ selection in one park before being able to get FPs in other parks.

Please note there WILL be bugs and glitches. Any bit of technology and computerized system is bound to have them. These changes are meant to make things easier, quicker, and more convenient. As of today, they did just that in my experience.

Make sure to get in touch with My Mickey Vacation so they can give you even more details and take all the stress out of planning to create the magic for you. Trust me, let them take this pressure off your shoulders so you don’t have to deal with all the changes.

They will make sure to connect all the dots and get everything in order for your next Walt Disney World or any Disney Destination vacation while saving you time, stress, and money.
