As is typical in Walt Disney World during the summer, the extreme heat was getting to everyone on Thursday afternoon, and that included the attractions. Around 5 p.m., power problems around the park caused many buildings to lose A/C and numerous attractions and rides to go down.
Between 5 and 5:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, power problems and “technical difficulties” caused the air conditioning to go out in numerous buildings around the park. With the power out in many locations, there were also a number of attractions “Temporarily Closed.”
UPDATE #6 as of 8 p.m.
The majority of attractions are back up an running now at DHS with 2.5 hours remaining of park time. As of this update, only four attractions remain closed and they are:
- Toy Story Mania
- The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
- Voyage of The Little Mermaid
- Walt Disney Presents
UPDATE #5 as of 7:20 p.m.
Some attractions are starting to reopen and others (Toy Story Land) are being tested. As of right now, Alien Swirling Saucers and Red Carpet Dreams have reopened.
UPDATE #4 as of 6:50 p.m.
My Disney Experience has now added a notice that is popping up for guests to advise them of the situation.
UPDATE #3 as of 6:40 p.m.
It appears there was a fire in a central chiller plant which has affected the air conditioning to the entire park, and it is continuing to be a problem. No injuries reported and no word on when things may be fixed as of this time.
UPDATE #2 as of 6:20 p.m.
Alien Swirling Saucers is also now “Temporarily Closed.”
Guests on buses and using Disney transportation to get to Disney’s Hollywood Studios are being advised in some instances that the “park is closed,” and they are being taken back to their resorts.

All attractions listed below are still down and “Walt Disney Presents” has been added to the list as well.
At one point, here are the attractions which were down and as of this writing (5:30 p.m. Eastern), still are:
- Celebrity Spotlight with Olaf
- Mickey and Minnie Starring in Red Carpet Dreams
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
- Slinky Dog Dash
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
- Toy Story Mania!
- The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
- Voyage of The Little Mermaid
