‘The Lion King” Version Of Monopoly Being Released With A Pride Rock That Plays Music From The Movie

Almost everyone knows that a new live-action/CGI version of Disney’s The Lion King is hitting theaters this summer and if you don’t, you may have been living under a (Pride) rock. For those who love the classic film, you can really show your affection by picking up the themed Monopoly game which will hit stores next week.

Yes, Hasbro is releasing a version of Monopoly which is themed after The Lion King and it has some really cool things going on in it. The game is going to be released on April 22, 2019, and only at Walmart, but it will hit other retailers sometime in June.

For $39.99, fans will be able to play this awesome version of Monopoly which will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the animated classic and the release of the new version this summer. Here are some of the cool aspects of the game:

  • Mini Pride Rock card holder plays music from the movie
  • Beetles and grubs will be used instead of houses and hotels
  • Utility locations are replaced with advisor spots from Zazu and Rafiki
  • Players can control one of six game pieces/characters – Simba, Nala, Mufasa, Scar, Timon, Pumbaa

  • Community Chest and Chance cards are replaced with Destiny cards
  • Locations such as Boardwalk, Park Place, and other properties are replaced with spots such as “The Circle of Life,” “Traitor,” and other scenes from the film

The new version of Disney’s The Lion King will roar into theaters on July 19, 2019.
