First return sailing of Disney Magic postponed due to work issues

Disney Magic delayedJust yesterday, Doctor Disney posted some videos about the re-imagined Disney Magic and gave news of how I was invited to sail on the second sailing since its return. Well, it appears as if I’ll now be on the first sailing as the the return has been postponed due to work issues.

As is something that does happen with major refurbishment and makeover work, they are running a little bit behind.

Disney has postponed the first return sailing that was scheduled for Oct. 20, 2013, by five days. The inaugural re-sailing will now take place on the special two-night sailing on Oct. 25, 2013.

Per USA Today:

Passengers on the canceled sailing will receive a full refund as well as reimbursement of airline change fees. In addition, passengers also are being offered a complimentary sailing on the Disney Magic between now and May, 2014.

Passengers who are not able to take advantage of the free sailing offer on the Disney Magic will receive a 35% discount on a future Bahamian or Caribbean cruise, taken within two years and excluding holiday sail dates.

Poor weather has caused the delays in the work on the Disney Magic that began last month in dry dock in Cadiz, Spain. It was scheduled to be completed this week and head across the Atlantic Ocean from Cadiz to Miami, Florida, without passengers.

The incredible makeover of the Disney Magic has changed the entire ship from front to back including the adults areas, restaurants, children’s clubs, rooms, pools, and more.
