With the full roll-out of Disney’s MyMagic+, FASTPass+, and MagicBands coming within the next couple months; there are still bound to be a few changes here and there. Well, there is already a major one that has happened with FASTPass+ and it puts the attractions in a class system at the Disney Parks.
Just within the past week, when guests begin making their selections for FASTPass+, they’ve found the set-up looks a little different…at least for Epcot. Now, the attractions that are bound to have longer wait times and lines are being separated from the other FASTPass+ attractions.
When choosing your selections, the site tells guests to choose one FASTPass+ selection for certain attractions and then two FASTPass+ selections from other attractions.
It is very possible this has been done because everyone was choosing mostly the same attractions and causing the FASTPasses to run out much quicker than expected.
For instance, Epcot has selections separated into two categories as so:
Select one from:
- Soarin’
- Test Track
- Epcot Character Spot
- Maelstrom
After selecting one from that group, guests will choose their other two FASTPass+ selections for the day from the remaining attractions such as Mission: Space, Captain Eo, Spaceship Earth, Turtle Talk with Crush, and others.
Now, it hasn’t been separated for Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, or Disney’s Hollywood Studios yet so it seems this is a testing phase.
Looks like Disney is trying to group the popular attractions together so that a guest cannot book a FastPass time for Soarin’ and Test Track on the same day. — Bummer — Guess they are trying to limit availability to make the attraction times for these rides more accessible?
I find that I like to be more on the fly with my fast passes anyway, so FP+ was not extremely useful on my trip. I hope it improves, and I hope extended access/multiple park access becomes available.
