The confirmation of the move of Festival of the Lion King to Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom was confirmed back in the summer, but it wasn’t quite known when the current attraction would be closing.
Well, until now.
On Jan. 5, 2014, the Festival of the Lion King will officially close its doors for approximately six months while it moves over to Africa and a brand new arena.
Having gone on a backstage tour at Disney’s Animal Kingdom recently, the construction on the new arena is coming along a lot quicker than anticipated. But still, it won’t be ready until at least the summer.
An exact date has not been revealed for the reopening of Festival of the Lion King, but look for it as summer 2014 approaches.
All of this is being done, of course, to make way for AVATARland which will be coming within the next few years.
