Reports say Disney’s FASTPass+ being tested without limit of three

Disney FASTPass limitThere have been reports flying around lately that Walt Disney World’s FASTPass+ system is undergoing some more testing…but this may be met with a lot more positive feedback  than negative.

Word is that tests are being done for FASTPass+ without the “three per day” limit.

Yes, you read that correctly.

While this is not something I’ve been able to confirm or even yet experience myself; I’ve seen it passed around on multiple outlets. Please don’t take it as a solid happening yet, and even if it is…”testing” means it could be being done for very small, select groups.

Mind you, this does not seem to be a free-for-all test in which you can schedule 10-15 FASTPass+ reservations.

The way I’ve been seeing if reported is that you can schedule your first three FASTPass+ reservations and then you will have the option to reserve another once your first three have been used.

It’s going to be interesting to see if this test is truly happening or even if it will. As we all know, the “three FP+ per day limit” has been one of the main complaints from guests thus far.

I would be content to have a bonus solution for park hopper resort guests. If I could get 3 fast passes for 2 parks a day (for a total of 6), that’d be about perfect. This would only really work if the fast pass categories weren’t restricted.

The new Disney FP+ system is absurd and far too limiting. In addition to getting rid of the “max of 3 per day”, they also need to get rid of the stipulation that you can only use FP once per ride, per day. Disney took a system which worked (old FP) and totally ruined it. Every day I read reports of absurdly long lines for Disney rides, both the FP lines and the standby lines. And riding one’s favorites only once per day with a FP, then being forced to try standby lines to ride it again is beyond maddening.

If Disney doesn’t implement major changes to these FP limits, I doubt I’ll spend my money at WDW again. Universal’s system is FAR superior and comes included with a Universal hotel reservation. And guess what?? The best Universal hotel (Portofino) is FAR cheaper than any of the Disney “deluxe” resorts the week before Easter. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the best park to spend my money in.

Whoever dreamt up these supposed “improvement” to the Disney legacy FP system ought to be fired.

    • It’s not maddening. I’m in the parks 5-7 days a week and never wait in lines for my favorites. Never wait in lines for anything. I also don’t see overly long FP+ or standby lines.

I sincerely hope you enjoy Universal as that appears to be your choice from now on. If you don’t want to spend your money or enjoy Disney, there is no need for you to do so.

      • Teresa Elbin says

So you never wait in a line for anything at WDW? Do you honestly expect anyone to believe that?

If you had at least attempted to be somewhat truthful, I would credit your remarks.
I’ve never known ANYONE to visit WDW and not have to wait in lines. The only question is – how long a wait will it be? Under the old FP system, you might wait 5-10 minutes, AT MOST, if you used FP on the big rides. People are now reporting that some of the FP+ lines are absurdly long. And the standby lines are much worse too. So, after using up your 1 FP+ on Space Mountain, you are stuck with riding it via standby.
Oh, but I forgot, you’ve never had to wait in lines, right? LOL. Anyone who believes that, I’ve got a bridge I’d like to sell you.

        • What do I gain by lying to you? I never said it was perfect, but said it works for me and works for a lot of people that I’ve spoken to and been in the parks with and even interviewed. I also said that there are a number of people that it doesn’t suit and that don’t like it and would rather the old system. I don’t wait in lines. I know how to do the parks right and that’s the way I do them…without waiting in lines, yet I still ride all my favorites and the things that I enjoy and want to ride or experience.

Sorry you had to result to being insulting or ridiculing someone. Also sorry that you can’t enjoy Disney anymore just because a FASTPass system has changed. I’m also sorry that because I don’t agree with you, you feel as if you need to belittle someone. Here when I wished that you could enjoy whatever you wanted and if you wish to spend your money and time at Universal, I hope you enjoy it there too.

Funny how I can speak on my experiences and the experiences of others with FP+ and you belittle them. But the reports you hear that “they” keep saying it is so bad, you choose to believe. To each their own and I hope you enjoy your next vacation, wherever it may be.

In terms of what you just said, ‘Doctor Disney’, I am extremely disappointed and appalled. To completely and utterly disagree with a consumer who had a problem with a system that doesn’t work, just for the sake of disagreeing, it seems, is unbelievably unprofessional. I almost hope you got fired for that- but i 100% hope your supervisor took the time to go over proper etiquette in the workplace with you. Not only to disagree in the same manner a 12 year old would, you provide no proof beyond the ‘well I’m here so often and I don’t see that’ type of argument. Just because you claim not to see it, doesn’t mean no one sees it. If you never wait in line for anything, and never see lines for anything, good for you. But every time I’ve gone, there are lines and most people that don’t get to spend ALL their time at a resort would like to see a system put in place that better serves them. And then to go so far as to tell them to not go back tk the park- well, whoever you are, you need to learn tactful mess and respect, at least when your writing for a company that serves the general population. Because that’s what this park does. If you don’t like that people want to experience the park to it’s fullest with their children while they are there for one week of their vacation time, spending the money they worked hard for, or you think it’s dumb they want a fast pass that’s actually fast, how about you give up your prime spot in line and let them go? I mean, you’re there all the time and never wait, so a little waiting may do you some good.

    • First of all, I was not insulting or attempting to offend anyone. I recommended that someone not go back to somewhere and spend their money there, if they aren’t happy with it. Why is that a problem? I wouldn’t waste my money either on something that I don’t believe in, don’t like, and don’t feel is working. I just wouldn’t so there is no way I would recommend someone else do the same with something they don’t like. I sincerely hope that if someone chooses Universal or Busch Gardens or LegoLand or the mountains or a cruise or whatever over Disney World, that they enjoy it and their money is well spent.

I know hundreds, maybe thousands, of families that go to Disney World for only one week a year or more or less…and they also have no problems with wait times as well. I know a lot of people that write emails to me or see me in the parks or are friends of mine and let me know they enjoy the new FP+ system. I also know many others that have issues with it.

So…because I don’t agree with the opinions of someone else who doesn’t like FP+, I should be chastised? I even said I respect their decision to not like it and leave if they so choose. I always state that I hate if anyone would give up Disney because they don’t like the new systems, but I understand.

Mind you, I don’t work for Disney. But for you to wish I got fired from my job?? That is not only unprofessional, but rude and extremely disheartening that you would wish something like that upon someone. I never once said that Teresa Elbin didn’t have a right to her opinion. I also was letting Teresa know that I am not alone in seeing that as well. I don’t work for Disney either, but I only want everyone to enjoy their time. I have my own opinion and get jumped on. Someone else has theirs and I disagree with and I’m a horrible person?

I’m sorry you feel that way, I truly do. I am also sorry you’re not enjoying the Disney Parks. I don’t have a “prime spot” in line so am not sure what you’re talking about there either. also don’t think it’s dumb that people want “FASTPass that’s actually fast.” The system works in my opinion, but that doesn’t mean everyone has to agree and I never said they did.

    • Teresa Elbin says

The statement about never waiting in lines is absurd on the face of it. Might be possible if you somehow get into the parks before they open or you hide out and stay way beyond closing, LOL.
Actual reports from people who have visited the parks since FP+ was fully implemented are FULL of stories of long waits, frustrated customers, and miserable experiences Heck, you can look it up too on any of the many available apps that track “wait times” on all of the rides.
Many people are reporting that, unlike before, even getting there at rope drop does not guarantee many wait-free rides. They are now saying that you are lucky if you get in 1-2 rides right after rope drop before the lines start forming at the most popular rides.
I said it before and I’ll say it again – Disney took a system that didn’t need “fixing” – the old FP system – and ruined it.
And if anyone truly believes that doctordisney has never waited in a line at WDW, you must also believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.

  4. The new fast pass plus system does not work as well as the regular fast pass. We have waited longer in lines with + than regular. People take forever to scan all the bracelets in and hold everyone up. My last trip there, the safari ride had a longer line for fast pass. It was crazy to see roped around lines for people returning with fast passes. There must have been a glitch that allowed too many people to return at the same time. I prefer the older fast pass. My family of 5…only 3 are able to use the fast pass plus. I sit out of most rides with my youngest child. I will not go on a ride alone, so we have to get a parent swap ticket. It totally voids my use of the new fast pass system.

    • Teresa Elbin says

      You said it well.
I’m still chuckling over the comment of doctordisney never having to wait in lines at WDW for his favorites. Unreal and, sorry, but not believable.
I, too, have read many reports where the FP waits actually exceeded the standby waits. So, if you’ve got a FP system that is no longer “fast”, what d**n good is it?
These are not made-up stories. These are actual people reporting on their recent experiences. Many of them longtime Disney families who are vowing never to return to WDW unless the FP+ system is changed or the limitations adjusted.
People have also reported of complaining to the CMs in the parks, who respond that they are hearing the same complaints from many, many customers.
Doctordisney can paint whatever rosy picture they please, but I know what I’ve read from people and it isn’t at all good.
