New Walt Disney World Scam Hits Facebook – How to Spot the Fakes

Walt Disney World Facebook scamThey’re back and with another free trip promised to Walt Disney World because they just so happen to have made enough money and want to share the wealth with everyone else.

Please…please please please stop falling for these things. The Walt Disney World scam artists of the world will do whatever it takes to get your information or get you hooked onto something that you want nothing to do with.

The latest “official” Facebook page is one that is called Walt Disney World. and yes, that period at the end is part of the Facebook page name so think about that one. Mind you, they’re supposedly giving away a Disney Cruise.

They even went as far as to use the exact same profile pic that the official WDW site has used before, but don’t fall for it. Especially since this page was founded…in 1923!

AMAZING!

This Facebook page will most likely be gone soon just as the others before it and the one for Disney Cruise Line as well.

The site was JUST created on Oct. 8, 2013, and is getting everyone to share this bogus scam. Don’t do it. Don’t let your friends and family do it.

Here are some things to look for on Facebook to figure out if the contest is legit or not:

  • Check the actual name of the page and the URL – Usually there are misspellings or added punctuation since they are not “official.”
  • Look at the date founded for the page.
  • Look to see if the page has actually posted anything else at all. If they haven’t, it’s a fake.
  • Check to see the contest rules. If they don’t have any, it’s a fake.
  • Ask yourself, is The Walt Disney Company actually sponsoring this giveaway? If not, then there is a 99.99% chance that it is a scam. You will know if Disney is behind it because there will be all kinds of rules, regulations, and disclaimers.
