Magic Kingdom To Test Free Phone Charging Lockers Next Week

phone charging lockersWith My Disney Experience taking over the phones of guests, it is obvious that there just aren’t enough electrical outlets for all the charging that needs to be done. Well, Disney is going to test some changes for that with complimentary phone charging lockers that will begin testing next week.

Testing of the phone charging lockers is set to begin on April 25, 2014, at the Magic Kingdom, and they will be placed in two locations:

With Disney’s MyMagic+ draining phone batteries, there have been a number of charging stations put in (Rapunzel’s garden area), but they require guests to sit by with their phones and wait.

The new phone charging lockers will bring about a sense of security and safety.

To use the phone charging lockers, guests will swipe a credit card (that won’t be charged) and that is your ID for it. Once opening, guests can use the multiple charging cables/outlets, and close the door with it locking. Once charging is complete, the door will glow green and you open the door by swiping the same credit card.

This will allow guests to leave their phone securely in one spot, go on about their day, and return later without worrying about the security of their phone. Now, they don’t have to sit by it and wait for it to charge.

The phone charging lockers will begin testing this week and likely spread out across all four parks, and possibly other locations, in the future.
