We’ve got another Walt Disney World scam page on Facebook that is trying to make people believe they are able to win tickets to Walt Disney World or Disneyland, but it just isn’t happening. This page takes things a step over the Facebook scam pages we’ve seen before though, and it includes links that lead to a site filled with viruses.
This one is simply called Walt Disney World. on Facebook, and yes, that period is intentionally there because it is the way that the page is titled.
Would like to thank Doctor Disney reader Mark S. for pointing this one out to me.
Take a look at some of the things on the Facebook scam page that let you know it isn’t legit.
~ “Get Your Disney Land OR World Tickets Today (Limited Time Only)” – Amazing that this so-called legitimate Facebook page doesn’t know that “Disneyland” is one word.
~ It was created on June 2, 2014.
~ Once again, they are using a pic of some Key to the World cards that aren’t really used anymore, no longer look like this, aren’t used as park tickets (unless you book a resort room as well), and also…they list a trip that is a good five years long. Amazing.
Please avoid this site at all costs and do not click any links on the page or share it on your Facebook profiles. Facebook scam pages like this troll the Internet and prey on people to get info or get into their computers.
Here are some things to look for on Facebook to figure out if you’re looking at a Facebook scam page:
- Check the actual name of the page and the URL – Usually there are misspellings or added punctuation since they are not “official.”
- Look at the date founded for the page.
- Look to see if the page has actually posted anything else at all. If they haven’t, it’s a fake.
- Any legit page from The Walt Disney Company has the blue VERIFIED checkmark next to its page name.
- Check to see the contest rules. If they don’t have any, it’s a fake.
- Ask yourself, is The Walt Disney Company actually sponsoring this giveaway? If not, then there is a 99.99% chance that it is a scam. You will know if Disney is behind it because there will be all kinds of rules, regulations, and disclaimers.
Thanks for quickly updating everyone who follows your site – fraud attempts like this really gets me angry.
And thank you for the heads-up on this one. Hadn’t seen it yet.
The same folks who brought you Walt Disney World. fake site NOW brings you Disney Cruise Lines. fake Facebook page. This is an early incarnation. What is the e-mail to report trademark abuse for Disney again?
