A few months ago, the Disney Monorail system had a bit of a (ok, a severely) limited operating schedule due to the refurbishment which is going toward an automated system. Well, there is more work to be done and that is going to make for a new operating schedule to run at least throughout the summer.
Beginning on June 22, 2014, the entire Disney Monorail system is going to be shaken up a bit. It won’t be operating on times that are in conjunction with park hours, but a fixed operating schedule.
That schedule will be as such:
- Epcot Monorail: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
- Resort Monorail: 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
- Express Monorail: 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 a.m.
Disney is going to have extra buses and boats available to handle the crowds and transportation needs of guests for when the monorail is overcrowded or out of operation.
As of now, there is no time set for when the monorail will return to regular operation, but it’s going to be on this fixed time schedule for at least a few months.
Upon completion, the automated system for the Disney Monorail will bring a lot of advantages to guests including arrival information, faster switching times on and off the beams, more frequent dispatch, and more consistent running.
This has been a long project for the Disney Monorail system and one that can’t very well just be done at night as it would make the process go even longer.
