The American Film Institute Showcase at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has seen its time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios come to an end. The awesome movie-history showcase officially closed as of Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, and Doctor Disney headed over there to get pictures of its final displays.
Located at the exit of the Backlot Studio Tour, the American Film Institute display has been the exit for the tour as guests would walk through it and then into a merchandise store.
The exhibit has housed different movie memorabilia over the years, and it’s been from all sorts and types of movies. There have been awards, props, costumes, signatures, and so much more.
Some Cast Members weren’t sure about both, but yes, the American Film Institute exhibit and The Showcase Shop at the exit of the hallway have been closed.
Guests will now exit from the Backlot Studio Tour and just walk along the outside of the building to get back into the park.
Here are some pictures from the final day of displays and merchandise at the American Film Institute.

I took my daughters to Hollywood Studios to say good-bye to AFI on the 17th. We took pictures of everything! We are really sad to see it go. We’d go in even if we didn’t take the Backlot Tour.
It feels like this might lead to the closure of the backlot tour.
Disney is all about change. Old favorites go and are replaced by new ones. Hopefully, something really great will go in there if they do decide to take the Backlot Studio Tour down. While I am sad to see some attractions close, I always look forward to the new things they bring out.
