Another Parking Entrance at Downtown Disney Closing This Week

Downtown Disney SpringsWith all of the construction going on at Downtown Disney as it is transformed into Disney Springs, there are a lot of detours with roads, parking, and even pedestrian traffic. Now, another entrance is about to close for a while and make things a bit more jumbled.

As of Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, Entrance 4 at Downtown Disney will be closing permanently. It’s the entrance down by West Side between DisneyQuest and Cirque du Soleil.

This is, of course, due in fact to the Disney Springs parking garages that are being built in the exact same location.

With this happening on Thursday, that will leave a mere two entrances open for all of Downtown Disney:

  • Entrance 2 by T-Rex and opposite the Hess Gas Station
  • Entrance 5 behind Cirque du Soleil and opposite Typhoon Lagoon

Entrance 1, which is across from the Disney Casting Center, is only used as an exit. The parking lots on that side of Downtown Disney are open, but the main one near World of Disney consists of a lot of valet parking.

With the construction at Downtown Disney having areas open at different times through 2015 and into 2016, this is all going to last a while. Rumors had one of the parking garages, at least, opening by the “holiday season in 2014,” but that has yet to be confirmed in any way.

On October 20th I’m supposed to be meeting family there and I’m getting worried about this as our meeting spot and for them a place to hangout for an afternoon. My sister will be with me in the parks Oct.19th and 20th and flying back home with other family on Oct.21st. So her grandma and aunt (and cousins under 5) are coming from Sarasota to Orlando to pick her up and originally told them they could take the little ones for some fun at downtown Disney. I’m definitively getting worried about this suggestion now. Going to the parks for them that afternoon isn’t an option, any suggestions where they may have some fun and we can meet up with them?

    • Downtown Disney is still the most viable option. Otherwise, it’s a resort and that could be even more of a mess having to go through security, parking, etc… and there isn’t always a whole lot to do at the resorts unless you’re staying there.

The second entrance by T-Rex would work well as there are a few lots for parking and you can walk right in there to avoid the huge amount of parking garage construction on the West Side.
