‘Toy Story 4’ Is Coming In 2017 and John Lasseter Is Directing

Toy Story 4Yes, “Toy Story 4” is coming from Pixar.

The sequel has been teased for a long time and there have been a number of shorts with more on the way, but nothing was ever confirmed. That is, until now.

Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger revealed on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, that “Toy Story 4” will indeed be made by Pixar. It will be released in June of 2017.

Pixar big-up John Lasseter will be directing the film.

There has been no further word on what or who may be involved with “Toy Story 4.” There’s no confirmation that Tom hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, or any of the rest of the crew will be returning for the sequel, but one would think that Disney and Pixar couldn’t make another film in the series without them.

Having Lasseter behind the direction of “Toy Story 4” is huge news on top of the already huge news that the film is being made at all. The Chief Creative Officer for both Disney and Pixar, Lasseter directed the first and second “Toy Story” films and it will be great having him behind the camera again.

The next short, “Toy Story That Time Forgot” will air on Dec. 2, 2014.
