It’s been exactly one year to the day that Disney and Pixar announced there would be forthcoming movies – The Incredibles 2 and Cars 3, but nothing much else has been said since then. Now, we know a little bit about the former.
Reports have come out that The Incredibles 2 will officially hit theaters sometime in the summer of 2016. While some sites, such as CrossMap, are saying it will be out right before Christmas time.
Some rumors flying around about the plot for Incredibles 2 are:
- With more than a decade having passed, time may end up showing for Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl.
- Love interests will possibly be introduced for both Dash and Violet.
- Expect Jack-Jack to not be the lovable little baby, but a lovable little kid. Some rumors have him possibly being brainwashed by a villain.
- Speaking of villains, could Syndrome somehow return? We don’t know exactly what happened to him at the end of the first film and he could team up with another super-villain to take on the family that shunned him.
It’s hard to put much credibility to the release date rumors though. Finding Dory is scheduled to be released on June 17, 2016, so that would essentially knock The Incredibles 2 out of next summer. It could come out in the 2016 holiday season as Inside Out will be out this summer and then The Good Dinosaur will be out on Nov. 25, 2015.
As of now, there is no film on the Pixar schedule for the 2016 holiday season, but that could change. All we can do is wait and see if The Incredibles 2 actually ends up being given the spot.
Remember that until Disney officially announces things, this news should just be considered as nothing but rumors.
