First Permits Show Possible Expansion Changes For Disney’s Hollywood Studios

By now, everyone knows that Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be undergoing some huge changes with the expansion and additions of Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land. Well, some permits have now been filed and possibly show what may be to come.

WDWMagic took notice of the first permits being filed for the expansion at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While they don’t tell everything exactly or with specifics, they do give ideas as to what is to come.

The permits indicate that the work will begin on the infrastructure changes in Jan. of 2016 and it’s set to be complete in Oct. of 2018. Again, dates are always subject to change.

In the first image, the areas that are in yellow are showing the existence of current wetlands, ditches, and stormwater ponds that will be filled in. The blue area on the opposite side of World Drive shows new wetlands that will be created.

The entire green area is the “Existing Theme Park” that is currently Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The pink color is the Osceola Parkway/World Drive Entrance ramp.

As you can more clearly see int he following map, the area in yellow stretches around the former Backlot Tour area and behind Lights, Motor, Action. This could end up being part of the new Star Wars Land area, but that is not yet confirmed.

In this third image, there are details for a new interchange between Victory Way and Osceola Parkway that include new bridges heading into the parking lot. Maybe this will bring about new parking garages and a new main entrance into the Disney’s Hollywood Studios property area.
