There have been plenty of rumors flying around regarding Mizner’s Lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, but are any of them true. As fans wonder if a Beauty and the Beast-themed bar is on the way, it is known that there are major refurbishments are on the way.

The Disney Parks Blog has now confirmed the reports and Mizner’s is being re-themed to a Beauty and the Beast-themed bar and lounge. You can read more about the new bar at this link.

According to the rumors flying around, Mizner’s Lounge is going to end up closing for a massive refurbishment that will turn it into a Beauty and the Beast bar and lounge. The lounge will reportedly be transformed into a lounge that reflects the live-action film that was released in 2017.
While there has still been no confirmation from Disney as to what the new theme will be, we do now have confirmation on the work that will be done.
The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra, who plays on the second-floor bandstand in the resort’s main building, issued a statement on their official Facebook page confirming the refurbishment. They also revealed the plans for the GFSO as their bandstand will be closed during all of the work.
“Hello everyone,
In case you haven’t heard, a new Chapter at the Grand Floridian will begin soon.
Mizner’s Lounge, located directly behind the bandstand on the second floor of the lobby in
the main building of the Grand Floridian Resort Hotel, will be closing Friday, April 5, 2019, to undergo
MAJOR renovations. These renovations will begin Saturday, April 6th and last for approximately
7 months. The new Lounge will be much larger and encompass Mizner’s Lounge (as we know it), the current men’s shop (Commander Porter’s) and the seating area located between Commander Porter’s and the Grand Staircase. The artist’s renderings I’ve seen are absolutely beautiful!
So…. if you want to see or experience Mizner’s Lounge the way it has been for the last 30 years…
you’ve got to come out before April 5th! (April 6th is too late)
Also, Friday, April 5th will be the GFSO’s last night playing on our current bandstand. I’m told it will be
torn down for the duration of the ongoing renovations. They will be relocating the band to the lobby floor
directly below our 2nd floor bandstand location. I’m told we will be there beginning April 6th
and continue temporarily during this renovation. This will be an interesting change for us and the hotel guests!
So… If you want to see or experience the GFSO and our bandstand before it goes away…
you’ve got to do it before April 5th! (April 6th will be too late)
I’m told there will be a bar or two set up close to the GFSO and manned by the Mizner’s staff. Bar service will be available to all visiting the main lobby as will the music of the GFSO.
So, a new Chapter begins at The Grand Floridian.
