Disney’s Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom to have soft opening this week and fully debut in late February

One of the newest things to do at the Walt Disney World ResortSorcerers of the Magic Kingdom – has been play-testing for over a month now and soon all guests will be able to play. Word is that the interactive role-playing game will debut in full sometimes in late February, but Cast Members told me today that a “soft opening” will begin on February 2, 2012.

So far the game has only been available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays but now it will be available everyday of the week beginning this Thursday. That is according to Cast Members working the game. Currently the portals in Liberty Square/Frontierland, Adventureland, and on Main Street are open. Fantasyland‘s portals are operational but mostly blocked at the time by construction.

A cast member told me today that during the “soft opening” and even once the game debuts in full; the plan is to still give guests a map, key card, and five random cards to start. Additional closed packs of trading/game cards for Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom will eventually be available for purchase in The Emporium.

  1. Spoke with an employee yesterday. Apparently, this is not uncommon. He mentioned that it happens a fair amount of time and typically it is not a big deal. They have never had a problem and only because of the strange times we live in are people more suspicious (understandably so).
