Cast Members confirm changes are coming very soon for Disney World’s FASTPass system

Reports have been out for months now, but it appears as if the there is finally some truth to the talk of changes coming to Walt Disney World‘s FASTPass system. Guests can actually expect them to hit the parks starting on March 7, 2012.

At least, that is what’s rumored.

The changes that will be reportedly implemented are as follows:

  • Guests must use their passes within their scheduled return windows
  • A five-minute early arrival will be accepted
  • A 15-minute late arrival will be accepted
  • Return outside of that 80-minute time frame and the FASTPass will expire
Speaking with a Cast Member (5+ years) this morning at the Magic Kingdom, he’d advised the following with each question I asked:

“Coming in the very near future, we are looking at new ways of enhancing our FASTPass system.”

He would only repeat this phrase with a huge smile and a nod for each question so it appears change is in the soon-to-come future.

All of this falls in place with Disney’s NextGen system that is slowly but surely going to roll our around property. It appears now as if the convenience of returning any time after a FASTPass goes active is now out the window.
