A new series of articles that will be happening here will be called “Doctor Disney Explains” and they will take a good look into the different areas around Walt Disney World. Starting off will be the first of the eleven countries in Epcot‘s World Showcase and that is – the Canada pavilion.
There is no set order to these and they’ll likely get better and more in-depth as they go along, but it seemed like a great place to start and it’s time that everyone starts learning all there is to learn about specific location in our home away from home. After all, this is my first one so it’s time to step into the classroom and let me explain a thing or two about the cold north of Canada as seen in the warm temperatures of Florida.
Epcot has eleven countries for guests to explore and there are restaurants, rides, movies, stores, and so much more that people just seem to fail to realize. That can very well be said for Canada as guests can walk right on by and just see some flowers, a few snack carts, and not even realize what is in store for them if they actually explore the pavilion. Walking down the pathway to the right will allow guests to not only eat at one of the best restaurants on all of Disney property in Le Cellier but allow them to venture into the vast wilderness of the country in a Circlevision 360 movie called “O’Canada!”
“O’Canada!” is a 14-minute short film that is hosted by actor Martin Short and takes a look at all the beauty and wonder that is the wondrous country in the upper half of North America. Be warned for those that may not want to stand or can’t for very long, it is a standing-room only film due to the Circlevision 360 technology.
If you’re looking for one of the best steaks around or a bowl of their signature Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup, than you need to make reservations at Le Cellier. Make sure you do it far in advance though because the chances of getting a walk-up seat on any given day is not in your favor. This restaurant stays busy for months and just one trip inside of it will show you why. The price range is a little on the high side as most dishes will range from about $30-50 for dinner but a little on cheaper end for lunch at $15-30 per person.
The Disney Dining Plan is accepted there but it is one credit for lunch and two for dinner.
While walking around the pavilion, make sure to check out the beautiful garden area down by Le Cellier and also the many totems that surround the stores in the center. There is some excellent woodwork and carvings that surround Canada including separate pieces, carvings in the walls, and even doorways. Some are even available to purchase if you want to take home a Canadian memory.
As you make your way toward the United Kingdom from Canada though, your adventure isn’t over just yet. One of the greatest bands in all of Walt Disney World is waiting to entertain you as Off Kilter has their own stage to impress you on. This Celtic rock band has been around for years and there truly is no better way to end some evenings in Epcot than to sit back and enjoy the great music. Grab yourself a beer and sit center stage for some unique, and dance-inducing, sounds.
Or you could really sit anywhere around the World Showcase Lagoon for that matter because when Off Kilter is on stage, there is no mistaking because they can be heard from all over.
Well, that is Canada in a nutshell but you’ve really got to explore the incredible pavilion to appreciate all that it has to offer because words merely don’t do it justice at all. But that is also why I’ve included an image gallery below to show you at least a few of the glorious things to witness in the awesomeness of Canada. Stay tuned because the next “Doctor Disney Explains” will be coming your way soon and you may learn a little something.
