Plans for DVC at Polynesian altered greatly – Some scrapped, some delayed

There has been a lot of talk about Disney adding DVC villas to the Polynesian Resort over the past couple years, and it was expected to be going ahead full-steam once the new DVC section of the Grand Floridian was done. Well, that appears to have changed.

According to the Tikiman, the plans for Poly have been scaled down and also delayed.

Here are things in a nutshell although nothing is truly confirmed until the official word comes from Disney:

  • Two five-story T-shaped buildings on either end of the resort appear to be out
  • DVC rooms will be located in the Tahiti Longhouse
  • Bungalows over the water are still a go, but less than originally planned
  • Redesign of the Great Ceremonial House’s interior – This could mean removing the waterfall which is going to cause an uproar
  • Possible new pool and lazy river
  • Inclusion of Trader Sam’s

For those that have never been to Trader Sam’s out in Disneyland, it is magnificent tiki bar and I’d love one to be out here.

Again, none of this is truly confirmed, but we will see and learn more info…probably over the course of the next year.
