It appears as if Disney is going forth with the proposed plans for DVC villas at the Polynesian Resort. Word is that the permits have been filed to get construction going over at the Poly and start work on the new villas to make it the next addition to the Disney Vacation Club.
Permits posted to the South Florida Water Management District state:
“Work to be conducted on this site includes new parking, vehicular circulation, pedestrian pathways, utilities, and fire access. It also includes installation of pilings along the neighboring lagoon that will support future structures, redesigned landscaping and new amenity areas to serve the building expansions for this resort hotel.”
Tikiman says that the plan is to have the work completed by late 2015 or early 2016. Click the image below to make it larger and see what the supposed plans are looking like.
Here is what Tikiman says will happen in order to get DVC in at Poly:
- The Tahiti building will close to convert to DVC meaning 143 regular Poly rooms will be lost – This also takes away a number of lagoon and theme park view rooms
- Word is that the Great Ceremonial House will get a big-time makeover with the waterfall possibly going away entirely for a new fixture that allows guests to see through to the beach from the front
- Non-dangerous asbestos needs to be removed from the Great Ceremonial House as well
- Trader Sam’s will be put in somewhere on property
- The Volcano at the main pool is said to be getting a big makeover and will look different, better – When the pool closes for work to be done, Poly guests will have access to the Grand Floridian pool
Nothing is set in stone as far as anyone knowing exactly what will happen at the Polynesian, but it does appear that some type of work will be coming. Below are two images of maps that were posted along with the permits.
