Disney Did You Know: Mr. Toad is still in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World…a couple times

One of my favorite Disney attractions of all time is Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and that is obvious by it being listed first on the page of “Lost” Walt Disney World. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh took over Mr. Toad’s location, and successfully pushed the guy out of Fantasyland.

Well, not entirely. And certainly not out of the Magic Kingdom.

Sept. 7, 1998, still is listed as one of the saddest days in history for me as it was the day that Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride at the Magic Kingdom officially closed. Winnie the Pooh and the gang from the Hundred Acre Wood took over on June 4, 1999, and that was all she wrote.

Mr. Toad was gone from Walt Disney World…but not completely, and he’s not alone.

Winnie the Pooh was taking over prime real estate in Fantasyland, and there were some legalities that needed to be taken care of. Him and his friends couldn’t just move in without getting ownership of the property.

That is why you can find Mr. Toad inside The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

Immediately upon entering Owl’s House, look over to your left and you still see a picture of Mr. Toad handing over the deed to Owl.

mrtoadpoohMr. Toad isn’t alone though. You may have to ride the attraction a second time to see it, but if you look to your right in Owl’s house, there is a picture on the floor showing Moley hanging out with Winnie the Pooh.

MoleyWinnieBut, this is not the only appearance of Mr. Toad in the Magic Kingdom.

Head on over to the Haunted Mansion if you’d like to see an appropriate tribute to the one and only J. Thaddeus Toad.

mrtoadhmAs you exit the Haunted Mansion, there is a pet cemetery off to your left before going through the gates back out into Liberty Square. Stop and pay your respects to some animals that are long gone, and one in particular that will look familiar to you.

In the top left corner of the pet cemetery is a statue in memory of Mr. Toad.

He will always be remembered by me and so many other Disney fans. Yes, people do love The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, but it is an attraction that I’d be more than happy to see go for a return of my second favorite attraction of all time.
