Disney Cruise Line is going to be putting a new smoking policy in place that will disallow smoking on all stateroom verandahs.
This policy is going to go into effect as of Nov. 15, 2013, and if you don’t follow it, there will be a hefty charge attached to it.
From Disney:
“Effective Nov. 15, 2013, guests will no longer be permitted to smoke on stateroom verandahs onboard Disney Cruise Line ships. To provide an onboard atmosphere that also satisfies smokers, portions of open-air decks on each ship are designated as smoking areas. Smoking is not allowed on stateroom verandahs.”
If guests are caught or found to be smoking on their verandahs or in their staterooms will be charged a $250 stateroom recovery fee.
Yep, $250.
Disney says this fee covers a deep cleaning to include air filter replacement, carpet extraction, the cleaning and replacement of drapes, comforters, blankets, and pillows, along with the cleaning and maintenance of the verandah.
This is about time. I have sailed three times on various Disney Cruises. While I can appreciate those who smoke; those that don’t smoke in the next state room can still smell it.
Good idea. My family and I sailed on a Disney cruise in 2010. We upgraded our room for a verandah and were really disappointed to pay that much more for a feature that we couldn’t enjoy due to our smoking neighbors. Every time we tried to use it, our neighbors were out there puffing away.
