With Walt Dsney World and Disneyland becoming all kinds of high-tech; it was only a matter of time until the Disney Cruise Line followed suit. They have begun testing the MagicBands and now they’re testing the ship’s navigator (guide/times) as a smart app.
The “Disney Fantasy Navigator” app is free to download for those with an iPhone or iPad. A review of the app says that the app was released around the middle of Sept. 2013, and that is available for iOs6 Apple devices.
Mine is an iPhone 4S with iOs 7, and I was able to download it and open it. No word on if it can be downloaded on Androids of Windows Phones. Give it a shot.
This new app seems fantastic, but not much can be done unless you are actually on the Disney Fantasy and logged into the ship’s WiFi.
Now, don’t worry…the WiFi on the ship is free, but it appears to be just for the app at this time. And no, the app is not available for the Disney Dream, Disney Magic, or Disney Wonder, but it will be coming soon.
This app looks great and it includes:
- Character info and times
- Restaurant info and menus
- Ship itinerary
- Port of Call
- Featured Activities
- Merchandise information
- Spa information
- Drink of the day
There really is just so much to this app that there’s no way I could do it justice until I’m able to use it myself. Check out this review as it is detailed and very informative.
