Disney Resort changing name back to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Disney's Polynesian Resort VillageWith the recent announcement of the DVC Villas officially coming to Disney’s Polynesian Resort; it appears as if there are a number of changes that will be happening at one of Disney’s oldest resorts.

Tikiman is reporting that the resort is undergoing a slight change that many may not notice at first, but it’s actually a name change. The report is that the resort will soon be called Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort once again.

Some different proof of this change is happening around Poly, and it shows on a new sign for the jogging trail at the resort. The sign clearly states “Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort” which it hasn’t said in a long time.

This is what the original name of the resort was until the word “Village” was dropped way back in 1985.

Tikiman says that Cast Members will now be trained to say “Welcome to Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort and Villas.”

This pleases me. With all of the retro designs and even the retro writing for “Walt Disney World” showing up all over the place; this is just fantastic in my eyes.

Works 4 me. I love retro.
As a DVC member, I’m totally psyched that I’ll be able to stay at the “Poly” using points.
