Next step of MyMagic+: The removal of Key to the World cards

Key to the World CardAs has been expected for some time now, the Key to the World (KTTW) cards will soon be going away at the Walt Disney World Resort.

With MyMagic+ and MagicBands getting ever close to the time for the full roll-0ut, it seemed only a matter of time until the KTTW cards were gone. Well, it appears as if that will happen for guests that are arriving around the date of Oct. 27, 2013.

So far, KTTW cards have been to guests upon check-in even though they may have had the MagicBands during testing.

Disney said this was being done because not all dining locations had yet been equipped to take the MagicBands and recognize dining credits or credit cards off of them. With that being a thing of the past, the KTTW cards have now become obsolete.

Guests liked getting the extra cards because it allowed them to use FASTPass+ on their MagicBands and then use the old FASTPass machines to get a few extras. Now, that won’t be possible. Unless something changes, the original FASTPass system will now be unusable for those with just MagicBands.

Remember, things can change so just stay tuned for the official word from Disney on this whole thing as well.

I am arriving in 2 days is there anyway to get the Magic Bands or are they still testing?
We are at Caribian Beach but we have DVC membership at Saratoga Springs

I’m arriving at Yacht on Wednesday and am disappointed that I’ll be restricted from legacy fast pass.

They need a FP+ expansion and a solution for park hopping.

  3. Where are you getting your info from? How do you know they are pulling the KTTW cards? Isn’t this just speculation?

Whaaaat??? Three FP’s a day only….probably tiered like Epcot is now? That’s silly. If this is the case then Disney needs to seriously consider giving up to 5 per day… Able to be split up among the 4 parks. Otherwise, Universalhere I come.
