It’s always fun to learn a little something new about the world of Disney and all it entails, but when it’s something new about Walt Disney himself and the Disney Cruise Line…it gets a little interesting.
Notice anything strange about the following image?

For those, that don’t know…this is the image aboard the Disney Magic and it sits right outside of the Walt Disney Theatre. That is the theatre that shows the incredible stage shows as well as some feature films from time to time.
It’s an iconic image of Walt Disney himself, but look closely and you may notice that something seems a bit strange…or posed.

If you look at Walt’s right hand, it appears as if he was once holding something and well, he was. Walt Disney was indeed holding a cigarette in his hand in this particular picture, but it has been taken out.
According to the higher-ups at Disney, this was done on purpose as the cigarette was scrubbed out of the picture.
Those that know a lot about Walt Disney…well, they know he was a huge smoker. But the thing is that he didn’t want people to know it and didn’t like having people see him smoke.
In other old photographs, Walt Disney is seen pointing with two fingers. That’s because he was usually photographed with a cigarette in between two fingers, but it was removed from the print.
Hence another reason for the polite not one-finger point by Cast Members as well.
But yes, the cigarette has been removed from this pic aboard the Disney Magic, and it was done on purpose.
