Rumor: Hub at Magic Kingdom to be changed for better traffic flow, more fireworks viewing area

With about half of Walt Disney World currently under refurbishment, it appears as if there could be a much bigger project in the works. It is being reported that the hub at Magic Kingdom is going to be expanded for better traffic flow and to provide more viewing area for the fireworks.

There is already a bit of work being done as Casey’s Hot Dogs and the Plaza Restaurant have seen the area outside the restaurants expanded. This was done to offer more seating and better traffic flow, but it could be part of this bigger plan.

Now, please remember that none of this has been announced or even confirmed by Disney. Until that happens, and IF it happens, take it all as rumor or simply proposed.

Below you can see two pictures, and they can be viewed larger by clicking on them. These are simply renderings done by a WDWMagic forum user.

Left pic – old hub. Right pic – proposed new hub.

As you can see by the rendering, which is based on the rumored plans, the extra circle will connect right to the Main Street bypass that was first reported last year.

It doesn’t seem like it would really take away anything, but the rendering shows that the beautiful Rose Garden on the right hand side of Cinderella Castle is gone. Hopefully that is not something that will truly happen.
