With the reveal in early March 2014 that Cat Cora’s Kouzzina would be closing at Disney’s Boardwalk; many wondered what the exact reason was for it all. The last official day of operation for Kouzzina will be on Sept. 30, 2014, but it isn’t closing for the reasons that people may be saying.
Cat Cora hadn’t said anything about the closing of Kouzzina and some speculated that it was for bad ratings, low attendance, or a host of other things.
On Monday, April 14, 2014, she was on Reddit and gave her two cents:
“We’re at the end of our contract, and Disney and I want to do more projects together. But this is a really great time for them to focus on a new concept in that space and I can focus on more restaurants around the world. It’s all good, and I’ll still be at the Epcot festival of food & wine this year.”
There has been no word from Disney as to what will be going into the soon-to-be empty space vacated by Kouzzina. Word has a new restaurant opening by late 2014, but that would be cutting it close.
For now, Cat Cora will be at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival this year, and there appear to be some other things in the works.
