As announced before, Disney’s Carousel of Progress will be getting a refurbishment at the end of the summer, but it now appears as if it will be getting two.
That’s right, the classic attraction in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom is going to have two refurbishments in the coming months. This is so that it isn’t closed for a great length of time, but also to give it the respect it deserves.
The first refurbishment is set to happen on sometime in the next few days.
UPDATE: My source has advised me this first refurbishment is scheduled for May 13-23, and will reopen to guests for the 24-hour day.
The second refurbishment is scheduled for August 25, 2014, and will reopen to guests on September 4, 2014.
Remember that these dates are subject to change and are always tentative. Anything can happen including date movements, lengthening the refurbs, and even canceling them completely.
Word from a great source is that the first refurbishment of Carousel of Progress is going to be for maintenance to take a look at the seats and carpets. They will also take molds of all the animatronics in the different scenes.
Come September, there will be a replacement of a lot of seats and the carpet in Carousel of Progress. A number of new animatronics will also be brought in to replace some of those not working so well anymore.
Disney’s Carousel of Progress seems as if it will be getting a great deal of attention and bringing it back to the top of its game.
As the song says, “there’s a great big beautiful tomorrow.”
This is highly deserving and also appropriate, since it IS the 50th Anniversary for this wonderful attraction. I hope an update to the Christmas scene is more modernized to the current tech-savvy guests that come into the rotating theater. “Car Phone?”
