With the May 28, 2014, grand opening date for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train just around the corner; many have wondered if there would be any type of soft opening for Disney Annual Passholders or all guests. As of the morning of May 21, 2014, their wondering came true.
UPDATE: An Imagineer standing outside of the attraction told me this when asking about the “soft opening” from this morning –
“You know how soft openings work…they are 4-5 hours at the very least. This morning was ‘load testing’ and that was why it went so quick. Rest of the day, Cast Member invitation-only, and still no word on an actual soft opening.”
Early on Wednesday morning, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train did have a very limited soft opening for any and all guests that happened to be around.
The soft opening was said to not last very long and was soon closed off to guests. They were riding the new attraction along with Cast Members that were in there by invitation-only.
As of around 11:00 a.m., the soft opening for guests had stopped and the Cast Member invitation only attendees were riding.
By 11:45 a.m., Cast Members outside of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train were advising all guests that the ride was currently down. No-one was being allowed on at all, and that includes the invitation-only Cast Members too.
A Cast Member did come out and advise this:
“If there is going to be another time for the soft opening of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train today, it won’t be for at least two hours. That is, if it happens again today at all.”
