Picture Tour of Construction at Disney’s Polynesian Resort

PolynesianThere is a lot of work going on around Disney’s Polynesian (soon-to-be Village) Resort, and it includes the Villas being built, the Nanea Volcano Pool closing for a while, and a serious refurbishment of the Great Ceremonial House lobby. As of this morning, May 22, 2014, there are refurbishment walls up all over the Polynesian, and here are some pics to show you what’s going on.

Let it be known that all of this refurbishment work at the Polynesian is going to take a good bit of time. Therefore, the lobby, pool areas, and even beach areas are all going to have construction walls up and work being done for months.

You can begin to see where the changes are going to be made at the Polynesian and how things are coming along with the new designs. It’s going to be a bit of a drastic change once all is said and done, but it will be interesting to see the completed project.

First off, this is the area upstairs in the Polynesian’s Great Ceremonial House where Kona, ‘Ohana, a couple small shops, and the Monorail are.

Now, here is the area where the old Captain Cook’s quick service restaurant and arcade once were. There is concept art up for Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto on the walls, and it looks as if things are well underway here too.

Here is the main floor of the Great Ceremonial House lobby where the Boutiki merchandise shop is located, front desk check-in, and the soon-to-be extinct iconic waterfall that the Polynesian is so well known for.

Finally, this is outside of the main building at the Polynesian, and it shows the valet parking area and entrance to the Polynesian. Many of the walls that were up in the main parking lot are now down and the parking lot is more open with additional handicapped parking spaces.
