One of the most frightening attractions at Walt Disney World is that of Expedition Everest which is over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The roller coaster is currently having some refurbishment work done, but it is staying open…and it has oddly enough, been made even more terrifying.
During the refurbishment work on Expedition Everest, the attraction is staying open and operating normally as of now.
The backside of the mountain has scaffolding up and there is also a crane there to do some work. That isn’t the true terror though.
What’s scary is that the broken track effect at the top of the mountain is being worked on, and it actually has been removed. Yes, the broken track at the top of Expedition Everest is currently not present and now it just looks like a straight drop-off into obscurity.
There has been no real word on how long the refurbishment to Expedition Everest will take or exactly what is being done or even if it will be closed for any length of time.
The bird effect has been put back in place and the broken track removed, but that’s really all that has been done as of yet.
Many guests would love for the animatronic Yeti to be fully operational and begin working again. It really hasn’t worked at all for about the past seven years, and it’s quite a shame because it is rather awesome.
Whatever is being done to Expedition Everest, it obviously isn’t enough to shut down Animal Kingdom’s most popular attraction for any length of time…but it’s sure enough to scare the wits out of you.
