Feature Pool At Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Closing For Long Refurb Later This Year

Disney's Wilderness Lodge poolThere is a major refurbishment coming to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge later this year, and it is going to happen to the feature pool. If you’re heading to Wilderness Lodge for the fall or winter holidays, you will need to take this into account.

The Silver Creek Springs feature pool is tentatively scheduled to close for refurbishment on Sept. 3, 2014. It is scheduled to be closed through Nov. 27, 2014.

As of now, the feature pool at Wilderness Lodge is tentatively scheduled to reopen to guests on Nov. 28, 2014.

Guests will still be able to use the quiet pool at Wilderness Lodge which will remain open.

During the refurbishment, guests will be allowed to use the pools at both Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Fort Wilderness & Campground. Transportation (boat and bus) will be provided for guests of Wilderness Lodge if they choose to use those options.

There has been no word as to what exactly is being done to the pool at Wilderness Lodge, but it’s a rather lengthy refurbishment. All should look great and be running perfectly by the time it is over.

Dates and schedules are always subject to change so check with Disney first before making any reservation changes or if you have any other questions.

  1. The way Disney is handling this closing is slimy. You can’t tell me that they have not know about this for months yet we just received a letter today. My family’s vacation starts 9/13 and they gave us only 2.5 months notice. They should have had it on the reservation site months ago so that we could’ve made a choice. Now it is too late to find comparable rooms. The reps are not giving me any help. I have never been treated like this by Disney.

They sure wanted to make sure they got booked up. Ridiculous!

  2. I totally agree with Jerry. One has to book everything so far in advance to get what you want at Disney. They should post a year in advance of what will be closed. I am now not getting what I paid for at Disney. The convenience of the pool is no longer there.

    • Ok, not all refurbishments can be planned that far ahead or in advance. There are many times that refurbishments are being done to correct an issue or fix a problem, and they are therefore giving as much notice as possible.

I totally agree with jerry. I booked in May for a November vacation. I am strongly considering cancelling and moving to an off-site resort. There are no comparables at disney that are not booked. The pools are what the kids really want at the end of the day; and no parent wants to schlepp all over the kingdom in wet swim suits. Disney reps were not at all helpful on the phone.

Just an FYI for anyone staying at DWL during the pool refurbishment:
Guests who inquire at check-in may also receive a complimentary ticket to Blizzard Beach for each member of their party checking into the resort.
