Rian Johnson Set to Write, Direct Next Two ‘Star Wars’ Films

Star WarsBreaking news out of the stars as Deadline has reported that Rian Johnson has been pegged to write and direct both of the next two “Star Wars” films in the franchise. Apparently, Lucasfilm is making a deal with Johnson to be the overall leader for “Star Was Episode VIII” and “Star Wars Episode IX.”

As J.J. Abrams is in charge of “Star Wars: Episode VII,” Disney is not letting any time waste or sparing any expensive with this franchise.

Johnson has been the director of “Looper,” “Brick,” “The Brothers,” and other films.

Some mixed reports are coming in that Johnson will surely be the writer and director for “Star Wars: Episode VIII,” but that he will only provide a treatment for the finale of “Star Wars: Episode IX.”

Some reports state that a director has not yet been put in place for the final film. Deadline has been known to be very spot on, but with negotiations seemingly not completed yet with Johnson, things could change.

Hopefully, there will be more info and confirmation known on this “Star Wars” situation shortly.
