The man that owned Walt Disney’s old mansion has been trying to sell it for quite some time now, but he wasn’t actually to get the asking price for it that he wanted. After giving it a huge makeover, he was able to make a little money on it, but yeah…just a little.
When all was said and done, the asking price of $90 million just proved to be too much so he was able to end up selling it for $74 million.
Horrible, right?
Gabriel Brener, co-owner of the Houston Dynamo soccer team, had purchased Walt Disney’s old Carolwood Estate back in the ’90s. He actually purchased it from the Disney trust for a total of just $8.45 million so he ended up with a bit of a profit.
Mind you, Brener made some major improvements and refurbished the Walt Disney mansion like you wouldn’t believe.
As it now stands, the estate sits on nearly four acres of land and has eight bedrooms and a whopping 17 bathrooms. Let’s not forget that it has a pool, wine cellar, movie room, gym, tennis court, library, and a putting green.
It’s a grand total of 35,000 square feet with plenty of peace and quiet as there is not another house in sight anywhere.
Jay Harris of The Agency listed the home for Brener.
There really are not a lot of touches left from Walt Disney, but some things do still look like the days of old.
Brener ended up keeping the tunnel, the awesome Disney gate, and the rose bushes that Walt Disney loved so much.
