There has been so much talk going on over the course of the past year or so, and a lot of it has been about Soarin’ at Epcot and the changes that could come to it. While it does seem that a new film is being put together, now there are rumors going around that Soarin’ could be expanded and Toy Story Mania too.
While none of this is confirmed at all and is purely speculation, it’s interesting to see what is being passed around the net.
Word is that Disney is looking to get lines for both Soarin’ at Epcot and Toy Story Mania at Disney’s Hollywood Studios down to reasonable times. While FASTPass+ has helped with that somewhat, the rumors state Disney is trying to lower the standby lines even more.
First of all, there’s Soarin’.
Some reports say that construction has already begun on a third theater for Soarin’, that is being built behind The Land pavilion. Back there was some storage space, so it’s highly possible and probable that this could happen.
For the new movie called Soarin’ Around the World, Disney is expecting lines to get a bit worse so the third theater will help keep wait times down.
Now, moving over to DHS and Toy Story Mania.
With wait times for the popular attraction often up over 100 minutes, there is talk that Toy Story Mania could be expanded to have another track. If they were to expand things, it would mean taking over Soundstage One which is currently occupied by the ice skating rink and store for Frozen Summer Fun.
If this is to be the case, it would simply expand Toy Story Mania over into the existing soundstage and allow more guests on it at one time.
While this is a good idea, it takes away from any new attractions being built in the soundstage. There is also no rumored start date for this.
No matter what, remember these are rumors and not confirmed by Disney in any way or form. I’ve heard a few things leading me to believe the possibility, but nothing is set in stone for either Soarin’ or Toy Story Mania being expanded.
