The Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover (aka Wedway) is currently under refurbishment, and it looks as if it is going to take a bit longer than expected.
At the beginning of June, both TTA and Astro Orbiter were closed for refurbishment.
The Tomorrowland Transit Authority was scheduled to reopen on Aug. 5, 2014, but there are some delays that are going to keep it closed a bit longer.
As of now, Tomorrowland area managers have had a meeting and pushed back the reopening date for TTA. An official date has not yet been released, but it is said to be at least two more weeks after the original planned opening of Aug. 5, 2014.
Sources tell me that when the rotating turntable platform of Tomorrowland Transit Authority was lifted up for the refurbishment, there was a bit more wrong than originally anticipated.
With that, some more issues were found and need more time to be fixed.
Astro Orbiter is still currently on schedule to reopen on Sept. 20, 2014.
For those that haven’t been to Magic Kingdom over the course of the past few weeks, there is a new red paint color seen on the Wedway platform as well as leading up the ramp. This is going to be the new color scheme for Tomorrowland.
The elevator shaft of Astro Orbiter is also going to receive the red paint scheme that has not yet been completed or implemented elsewhere.
My source states that it will soon be the color of virtually all of Tomorrowland in time.
Remember, this new date change has not yet been officially revealed by Disney and is always subject to change.
