Tom Wolber, the Senior Vice President of Walt Disney World Resort Operations and Transportation is leaving for Disneyland Paris. It was announced on Aug. 1, 2014, that there was going to be a bit of movement around the world in Disney operations.
As announced on Friday, Tom Wolber will be taking up the role of President of Euro Disney S.A.S., the management company of both Euro Disney S.C.A., the holding compasny, and Euro Disney Associes S.C.A., the operator of Disneyland Paris.
Wolber is replacing Philippe Gas, who has been appointed to general manager of the brand new Shanghai Disney Resort.
“One of our greatest assets is the global strength of our teams,” said Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “Both Philippe Gas and Tom Wolber are seasoned Disney veterans with a tremendous combination of leadership skills, business acumen, and international experience that will help ensure that we carry on our legacy of creating unforgettable experiences for our guests. They bring an incredible depth of operational experience to their respective roles and are well positioned to contribute to the future success of Shanghai Disney Resort and Disneyland Resort Paris”.
Gas has been with Disney overall since 1991 and been the head of Disneyland Paris since 2008.
“We need China to create growth for our company. We need China to be stable and continue to create growth in order to create growth in our company,” said Disney CEO, Bob Iger at a conference in April.
A replacement has not yet been announced for Tom Wolber at Walt Disney World.
Many may not realize how much Tom Wolber has done, but he oversaw all 28 hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort and everything involved in transportation. He was one of chief planners for Disney Springs and has also had large parts in the launches of Disney Cruise Line ships – Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.
