Capt. Cooks’ quick-service restaurant at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was rumored to be opening this weekend, but it just so happened that Doctor Disney stumbled across the ribbon/vine cutting for the grand reopening on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014.
Upon rounding the corner, there was a line of Cast Members chanting and clapping in front of the door. A vine was strung across the opening, and a few moments later…the door opened.
A lovely song was sung about Capt. Cooks and then the vine was cut to welcome Guests and CMs alike back inside after months of refurbishment.
It may not look like a lot has changed, but everything is clean, retouched, moved around, and it just looks fantastic inside. New posters line the seating area and they are beautiful.
Oh…and if you’re wondering where the Dole Whip machine is? Well, it’s gone, but don’t worry.
Coming soon, right outside of Capt. Cooks, will be a stand called “Pineapple Lanai” and it will serve the Dole Whips. I couldn’t get a confirmed date, but it was said that it will be coming very soon.
Capt. Cooks’ reopening is just one of the many changes/updates coming to the Polynesian over the course of the next year or so. It’s a great start too, and I honestly can’t wait to have breakfast at Capt. Cooks!
