Disney’s Festival of the Masters Cancelled for 2014

Disney's Festival of the MastersFor those that are used to enjoying Disney’s Festival of the Masters every year, there will be a huge disappointment for 2014. Due to the mass amount of construction happening for Disney Springs, the Festival of the Masters has been cancelled for this year.

The entire Downtown Disney area is undergoing severe amounts of changes and they will be through the next two years. With that being said, the space needed for the artists that attend and show their work at Festival of the Masters just isn’t there.

Per Disney:

We appreciate the enthusiastic support we’ve received from the arts community, both locally and nationally, which has contributed to the long-running success of the Festival. Walt Disney World Resort is a strong supporter of the arts and we remain committed to nurturing the arts.

We ask for your patience and understanding during this time of growth and look forward to building new memories with you at Disney Springs.

Having been to the Disney West Side area just this past weekend, there is virtually nowhere for the artists at Festival of the Masters to work. There are refurbishment walls up all over the place and even in the middle of some walkways.

Let’s not forget the construction being done on the parking garages.

Some guests are not happy about this situation, and that is understandable, but there’s not much that Disney can really do about it.

So many are saying that Festival of the Masters could be “moved elsewhere” on Disney property such as the Boardwalk or somewhere else. It’s really not that simple. Parking and security and other things need to be taken into account, and Downtown Disney is honestly the only place that really works.

Disney has not yet announced if Festival of the Masters will return in 2015 or what the future holds, but as for this year, it will not be happening.
