Permits Filed For Soundstage One at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as Big Disney Execs Present Today

Toy Story Mania expansionWell, it’s time to let the rumors start flying, but this could be something big. There are some big Disney names over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this afternoon, and they’re taking looks around the current Pixar Place to seemingly brainstorm. On this same day, it’s been revealed that permits have been filed for the soundstage next to Toy Story Mania and this could be huge.

As rumored a couple of months ago, a Toy Story Mania expansion has been talked about, and many believe it could come into existence. There is also the belief that all of Pixar Place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios could be expanded, and now there has been fuel added to the fire.

Word was passed along to me from a source at the park that Walt Disney Parks and Resort Chairman Tom Staggs, Walt Disney World President George Kalogridis, Walt Disney Imagineering Chief Creative Executive Bruce Vaughn, Disney’s Hollywood Studios Vice President Dan Cockrell, Walt Disney Imagineering’s Kathy Mangum, WDI’s Tom Fitzgerald, WDI’s Meg Crofton, and Pixar guru himself (Principal Creative Adviser of WDI) John Lasseter are all in the park.

Pictures are now going around to prove this and they are there. This is serious Disney brass team and they’ve been walking around the park and most notably, Pixar Place.

WDWMagic has also reported that permits have been filed for Soundstage One at Disney’s Hollywood Studios which is where Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post currently is, but will soon be moving. It’s also right next door to Toy Story Mania.

Wandering Oaken’s is moving soon as well.

The permit is titled “Project 3 – DHS Soundstage 1 Renovation” and doesn’t say really anything else. There is an expiration date of Sept. 30, 2016, and contractor Whiting Turner is involved with whatever the project is.

Let’s not forget that the Backlot Studio Tour is about to close this weekend as well so there could be even more happening in that whole area. It is located right next to Pixar Place so who knows?

This is going to be interesting to see what happens so let’s keep our eye on Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
