For a number of years now, there has been talk, rumors, discussion, plans, and more for the removal or moving of the huge Sorcerer’s Hat (or BAH to some) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While nothing has ever come of it, there is now a new clue (or error) in Walt Disney World maps that may speak otherwise.
In the brand new Walt Disney World – 4 Parks of Fun Guide maps, there is something noticeably absent from the Disney’s Hollywood Studios map. It is of course, the big Sorcerer’s Hat that has been in place since 2001.
As you can see in the image above, the area in front of the Chinese Theater is completely and totally blank. That circle in the middle is where the hat once…err, currently stands.
While it’s true that there are mixed feelings about the hat and whether or not it should be there, nothing has ever been confirmed about its removal or rumored move outside the front entrance of DHS. This latest little situation with the Walt Disney World map could be an error or a gaffe or a sign of something to come.
A few other changes to the current Walt Disney World parks are obvious by looking at the maps.
Listed on the map for DHS is the “For The First Time In Forever” Frozen Sing-Along, but the Studio Backlot Tour is still there.
Over on the Magic Kingdom map, the expansion of the Main Street hub is shown as completed and in place for future use.
Upon reaching out to Disney regarding this new map of Walt Disney World, the company simply stated, “There is nothing to say regarding the Sorcerer’s Hat or upcoming projects at this time. Orlando Attractions Magazine got a similar response.
For now, there is nothing confirmed or denied about the removal or moving of the Sorcerer’s Hat, but it is known that a lot of changes are coming to DHS over the next few years. We can only wait and see, but in the meantime…are you for or against the hat?

Many of the 2014 four park WDW magnets and merchandise show the Earful Tower as the DHS icon instead of the hat.
I’ve always been against the hat. It ruins the view down Hollywood Boulevard.
