During my time in the two Walt Disney World College Programs (WDWCP) back in the summers of 1999 and 2000, there were a lot of experiences that came my way. As a Cast Member of Walt Disney World, there were some truly great times and some strange times with the majority of them involving Guests. With that, it’s time to take a trip down memory lane and look at the 10 most memorable questions asked of me when I was at Walt Disney World Cast Member.
Not all of the questions below are those that are strange or funny or outrageous. Some of the questions posed to me when I was a Cast Member were memorable for other reasons as well. It’s all a part of what made me enjoy my time working for Disney so much.
1.) “At Crystal Palace, can the six of us split one buffet if we only eat one at a time?” – My question is, would you really try to do this anywhere?
2.) “It’s always nice to see people that still enjoy what they do in life. Are you ever not smiling?” – A question that came from a couple who were very frequent Guests in the parks that I saw at least two or three times a week.
3.) “Do you ever get to control the rain?” – No. No, that’s not something that falls into my job description.
4.) “Is this the slide where we can sit and watch everyone lose their bathing suits?” – No explanation needed since this was asked of me when guarding the Humunga Kowabunga at Typhoon one day.
5.) “Will you throw this away?” – Asked of me as someone pulled a turkey leg bone out of their mouth and held it out for me.
6.) “When are they going to close the dome over Disney?” – This was one that came multiple times a week and actually had an entire “Tales of A Former Cast Member” devoted to it. Seriously, this was asked all the time.
7.) “How does Disney get the ducks to appear so real?” – This one was asked of me when I was working at a popcorn wagon on Main Street. It was an overly slow day and a Guest was watching the ducks walking on the grass. They thought the ducks were audio-animatronics.
8.) “We just walked into the Magic Kingdom for the first time ever. What ride can my wife and I go on that will make us feel the most like a kid?” – This was, by far, one of the best questions I’ve ever been asked in my life.
9.) “How do we get to use the wave pool by ourselves as a family? We are staying at the Contemporary.” – While being a guard at Typhoon Lagoon one day, a Guest asked me this because she honestly thought there would be a time when the wave pool would clear out and her family could use it alone. According to the continued conversation, she thought it was a “perk” of staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort.
10.) “Which Cast Members are fake? Like…which ones are robots?” – Seriously. This happened.

The most common questions I was asked when I worked at WDW at EPCOT in the Imagination and the then-Living Seas pavillions was:
1.) What time is the 3 O’clock parade? To which I replied, 4:30;
2.) Where would we find Terminator? And I would come back with, “About 6 miles back on I-4.”
Ah….the memories!
