Parts of Disney’s Beach Club Resort have been evacuated as of this afternoon, Oct. 20, 2014, due to reports of a possible fire.
Doctor Disney writer Kristen heard a report that the Beach Club was indeed being evacuated in certain areas and that fire alarms had been sounding at the resort. There were no reports of visible fire as of 5:35 p.m., but there was said to be smoke visible near and around the Yachtsman Steakhouse restaurant.
At this time, there are no reports of any injuries or damage, but still working on trying to find out more information as I can. This article will be updated as much as possible as more news comes about.
UPDATE – 6:10 p.m.: It appears as if things are under control even though what exactly happened isn’t fully known yet. No injuries have been reported and it does not appear to be a serious situation from one source of mine. Still waiting to find out more info.
UPDATE – 6:52 p.m.: Per Doctor Disney reader Desi: “A smoky grill set off a sprinkler in the kitchen (according to Disney’s people.) There were no actual flames and everything is back open now.”
Earlier this year, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Plaza Restaurant at the Magic Kingdom had to be evacuated due to the same issues.
