After 60 years in service, the Disneyland Band will soon be no more.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the musicians in the Disneyland Band have been served a notice informing them of their “end of run.” Apparently, there will be a “reimagining”of the band that will add a new sound and some type of high-energy choreography.
There are currently 16 members of the Disneyland Band and they did receive invitations to audition once again for the acting and dancing tryouts that Disney will be having. For those that don’t make the new band via auditions, they will be put into other smaller bands in the Disneyland park.
One of the members of the Disneyland Band has been a part of the group for the past 44 years.
“Some members are trying to put their kids through college,” says a source. “It is wrong to ask these beloved seasoned professionals to audition for the band they are already in,” adds Orange County Musicians’ Association president Robert F. Sanders.
For those wanting to catch the Disneyland Band one more time, you only have about two more months. Their final performance will be on July 16, 2015.
Sadly enough, that day is just one day before the official 60th birthday of Disneyland.
