New Walt Disney World Free Ticket Scam Hits Facebook – How To Spot The Fakes

Yet another Facebook scam from a page claiming to be Walt Disney World has arrived. This one actually says that there are boxes giving park tickets, cash, and “extra items,” but don’t fall for them as these pages look to steal your info and prey on your friends and family.

The latest scam has the picture posted below:

It then goes on to say this:

Attention!! Each one of these boxes contain 5 tickets, $2,000 cash and some extra items. We have 95 boxes available this time!
Share & Like to win. (Leave a comment to increase your chances)
Like us for announcements, it ends on June 4th. Good luck!

I’m not going to post a link to the page and dignify them getting any more hits or likes, but it’s totally bogus. The page actually is listed as “Walt Disney-World.” in the name.

Since when does “Walt Disney World” have a hyphen and period in its name? It doesn’t.

This page has done multiple giveaways and is nothing but a complete and total scam. Do not fall for them. Another is this picture:

Do not like or comment or share things from pages like this on Facebook. Report them. Tell your friends to report them. If you see someone sharing pictures from this page or others like it, have them delete the post and report the page.

They are scammers. Simple enough.

Here are some things to look for on Facebook to figure out if the contest is legit or not:

  • Check the actual name of the page and the URL – Usually there are misspellings or added punctuation since they are not “official.”
  • Look at the date founded for the page.
  • Look to see if the page has actually posted anything else at all. If they haven’t, it’s a fake.
  • Check to see the contest rules. If they don’t have any, it’s a fake.
  • Ask yourself, is The Walt Disney Company actually sponsoring this giveaway? If not, then there is a 99.99% chance that it is a scam. You will know if Disney is behind it because there will be all kinds of rules, regulations, and disclaimers.

Join the “I’m So Disney…” group on Facebook to discuss this and many other Disney things with anyone and everyone.
