There have been plenty of rumors and we’ve heard a lot about it, but never got any type of confirmation until now. Construction began a while back and it is being done on the new Skipper Canteen – a Jungle Cruise-themed restaurant – opening in Magic Kingdom later this year.
Per the Disney Parks Blog:
At the Jungle Skipper Canteen, guests will be able to experience “World Famous Jungle Cuisine” in one of several unique dining rooms – including a crew mess hall and a once-hidden secret meeting room of the famed Society of Explorers and Adventurers. The restaurant will also be staffed by Jungle Cruise Skippers.
The Jungle Skipper Canteen is currently under construction and will open its doors in late 2015.
Coming across the Liberty Square bridge over toward Adventureland, you can look over and see the construction on the old Adventureland Veranda. The expansion looks to make the already large space that much bigger.
