Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was so excited to be the D23 Expo this weekend and thrilled to become a part of the Disney family as a voice in the future animated feature Moana. Now, he’s all aboard another big project for the worldly giant as he will guide and star in a movie based on the popular Jungle Cruise attraction.
It has been announced that Johnson will indeed take on the lead role of Jungle Crusie (working title) which will be based on the old-school attraction in Disneyland and Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
John Requa and Glenn Ficarra are going to be writing the script, and Disney simply hopes that Jungle Cruise will bring about the same kind of success that the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise has.
Disney is focusing on making a number of films based on attractions and lands from its Disney Parks. Haunted Mansion has already been a miss, but there is a project in the works from Guillermo del Toro with Ryan Gosling possibly starring in it.
So now, there are no real details on the Jungle Cruise movie yet, but The Rock will star in it, and Disney is hoping for another success story.
